1 John 1:5-7

“This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.”

  • Light away from us either blinds us or cast shadows, but light with us illuminates everything around us, reveals everything hidden, and removes stumbling blocks! You cannot hide light, but you can be lost in darkness!
  • Are you walking in light or in darkness?
  • Is your claim of walking in the light verified by your walk?
  • If you ever feel like you are walking around in darkness, there is no hope, and you are living in defeat, you have either broken fellowship with God or you have never had fellowship with God. In God there is no darkness and through His Son there is always hope. We are all born dirty with sin and nothing will cleanse us but the blood of Jesus Christ! If you have not asked Jesus to cleanse you from your sin and you have not committed to let Him be the Lord of your life, you are walking in darkness! Your condition when you take your last breath is your condition for eternity! Seek Jesus today!
  • If you are walking in darkness, how long will you choose to dwell there?
  • If today was your last day on this earth, would you die in darkness or in light?
  • We were not meant to walk alone!
  • Does your fellowship with other believers back up your claim to be walking in the light?
  • If you are not fellowshipping with other believers, can you truly be walking in the light?

Matthew 5:11-12

“Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” These are words from Jesus instructing us to share His love and provision with the lost world. We all have room for improvement in sharing our Lord, and we must understand that insults, persecution, and false accusations, may come, but we will be blessed when we are obedient. The way we live our lives may show that we are good people, but our intentional conversation will challenge others hearts, if it is centered on Christ. What are the chances that people have heard you talk about, or share, Jesus? Would anyone ever accuse you of standing up for Jesus? Would anyone say that you lived your life for Him? If you were accused of telling others about Jesus, and brought to trial, would there be enough evidence to convict you? Is your heart for Jesus, and your heart for a lost world, committed enough to get you out of your comfort zone?

Matthew 5:10

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Persecution, in one form or another, will find everyone who is truly following Christ. If you have not experienced persecution because of your Christian walk, you either need to strengthen your commitment, or prepare and understand that it is coming. 2 Timothy 3:12 “Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,”

Matthew 5:8

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” A pure heart is not trying to be a good person, it is having a heart like Christ, that leads your actions. It is achieved only through a growing relationship with Christ, which must be our number one passion above everything else.

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” If you truly hunger and thirst for righteousness, you can only satisfy your hunger with Jesus. What do you truly hunger and thirst for?

Matthew 4:21-22

“Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.” When Jesus calls you to follow Him, your obedience to follow Him should be immediately. Whether He is calling you for the first time, to give your life over to Him, or you have been a Christian for a long time, do not delay in obeying the One who loves you and died for you. His love never fails, and His path is always right.

Matthew 4:18-20

“While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Immediately they left their nets and followed him.” The correct response to Jesus is, “Yes Lord”, and the correct time to respond is immediately. God will never tell you to get your life right and then come to me, but He does say to come to Him, and He will make your life right. A calling from God has one correct response, immediate obedience. Dear Lord, may we walk with You daily, remaining in the center of Your will, so that we recognize where You are leading us. May our only answer be, “Yes Lord”, and may we never delay in being obedient. Amen
