“And Samuel said, “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of divination, and presumption is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, he has also rejected you from being king.””
- Saul got caught up in his own desires. God gave specific instructions, but Saul only followed the part of the instructions that he wanted to, and thought because of his gift of sacrifice, God would overlook his sin. God does not want sacrifice, He wants obedience. A disobedient son is not honoring his father, regardless of his claims or actions. We often claim to follow God, while living in disobedience to what He has commanded. As followers of Christ, may we truly follow Christ, in every area and with every effort of our being. Willful sin and church attendance do not cancel each other out. Choose this day who you will serve, deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Him fully.
- What areas of your life do you need to release to God, so that you will truly live to glorify Him?
