“David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.” And Nathan said to David, “The Lord also has put away your sin; you shall not die. Nevertheless, because by this deed you have utterly scorned the Lord, the child who is born to you shall die.””
- David, a man after God’s own heart, committed a horrible sin, by sleeping with another man’s wife, and then setting that man up to die in battle. When David lost focus on God, he lost fellowship with God, and faced the consequences of the sins he committed, while outside of that fellowship. Because he confessed and repented from his sins, the Lord forgave his sins, but the consequences of his sin remained. There are always consequences for sin, but the loss of eternal life is never one of those consequences for the Christian. Confessing and turning from our sin, restores our relationship with God. The consequences of our sin may remain, but the relationship will be restored. A sin committed cannot be undone, but it can certainly be forgiven. Confess, repent, and dwell in the presence of The Almighty from this day forward. Peace during the storm can only be achieved in the presence of God.
1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
