“David was conscience-stricken after he had counted the fighting men, and he said to the Lord, “I have sinned greatly in what I have done. Now, Lord, I beg you, take away the guilt of your servant. I have done a very foolish thing.”
- To get right with God, we must look deep into our own hearts, be real with ourselves and with God, humble ourselves, and seek forgiveness for allowing our pride to be in control. Counting the fighting men would not seem to be a sin to most people, however, by counting the fighting men in a time of peace, it showed that David was placing his security in the number of his forces, rather than in God. David’s misplaced priorities were his sin, on the inside, that caused his sin, on the outside. Whether you are amid great turmoil, or in a time of great prosperity, God should be the center of your focus and the desire of your heart. May everything you are be centered around HIS GLORY.
- Do you struggle because you are avoiding God, or because you are striving to be Christlike?
