“And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find a man like this, in whom is the Spirit of God?””
“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.” Honor is due our parents, regardless of any ill-feelings, and regardless of other priorities, we may have. If the Lord commands it, we can make time to be obedient. We never outgrow this commandment. Have you visited your parents lately? Have you told them that you love them?
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.” Are you thankful to God for sacrificing His Son, so that you could live? How do you show your gratitude? Is God important enough in your life for you to set apart a specific time each week to worship, praise, and focus on Him, and Him only?
“You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.” Prayer, praise, sharing, or teaching, should all be ways to honor God, when using His name. If you are using it outside of these parameters, repentance is more than likely necessary. Besides addressing the Lord, praising the Lord, discussing the Lord, or sharing the Lord, how are you using His name?
“You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.” When you put anything created above the Creator, you have entered idolatry.
“You shall have no other gods before me.” Anything or anyone you honor, respect, and cherish, above God, has become your god. Your God, or god, can be determined by your conversations, your time, and your finances. Your conversation will always reveal your heart. Have you made something, or someone, more important in your life than God? What do you talk about the most?
“And Moses said, “When the Lord gives you in the evening meat to eat and in the morning bread to the full, because the Lord has heard your grumbling that you grumble against him—what are we? Your grumbling is not against us but against the Lord.”” How are you trusting in God and His Word, and how are you representing Him, if you are grumbling about your situation, circumstance, or other people? Philippians 2:14-15 “Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,”
