James 1:22-25

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.”

• Our defeated feelings always come when we either lack knowledge, belief, or application of God’s word! Knowing God’s word is one thing, but the application of His word to our lives is what changes us! Knowing God’s Word is not what pleases Him, but He is pleased, honored, and blessed when we put our faith and trust in His Word and allow it to transform us to the likeness of Jesus! Knowledge, faith, and application of His word will always bring blessings and transformation. The more we are truly transformed to be like Christ, the more fulfilling our life will be and the more we will live in peace.

– Do you live God’s Word, or do you just know what it says?
– Do you feel blessed because of your obedience of God’s word, or do you often feel defeated?

2 Samuel 22:31 “This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.”

Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

Proverbs 4:20-22 “My son, be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Let them not escape from your sight; keep them within your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and healing to all their flesh.

Proverbs 3:1 “My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments,”

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

Philippians 4:7 “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Matthew 4:21-22

“Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.” When Jesus calls you to follow Him, your obedience to follow Him should be immediately. Whether He is calling you for the first time, to give your life over to Him, or you have been a Christian for a long time, do not delay in obeying the One who loves you and died for you. His love never fails, and His path is always right.

Matthew 4:18-20

“While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Immediately they left their nets and followed him.” The correct response to Jesus is, “Yes Lord”, and the correct time to respond is immediately. God will never tell you to get your life right and then come to me, but He does say to come to Him, and He will make your life right. A calling from God has one correct response, immediate obedience. Dear Lord, may we walk with You daily, remaining in the center of Your will, so that we recognize where You are leading us. May our only answer be, “Yes Lord”, and may we never delay in being obedient. Amen

Matthew 4:10

“Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan. For it is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.’”” There is a huge difference in knowing about God, and walking with Him. Is God your priority, or do you just mix Him into your life when it is convenient? Do you just know about God, or do you walk with Him daily?

Matthew 4:7

“Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’”” We have no right to put God to a test. When we understand who God is, and who we are, the only correct response is humility.

Matthew 4:3-4

“And the tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.” But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”” If you say you are seeking God daily, but you are not consistently in His Word, then I challenge that God is not your priority. God’s Word will change your life by guiding every step you take. Get to know His Word and let it guide your every step. The application of His Word to your life will bring peace and joy that you cannot find anywhere else. If you are just feeding your body with food, you are just existing, but if you are feeding your soul with God’s Word, you are living. Make a vow today to truly “live” the rest of your life. We try not to miss many meals, but how often do we skip getting into the Word? Maybe that is why we often feel spiritually malnourished. How much time do you spend meditating on God’s Word, versus thinking about your next meal? Do you need to adjust

Matthew 4:1

“Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.” The Holy Spirit may lead us to a place where we will be tempted, but He will not leave us there alone. Overcoming temptation strengthens us. Romans 8:28 “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
