James 1:22-25

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.”

• Our defeated feelings always come when we either lack knowledge, belief, or application of God’s word! Knowing God’s word is one thing, but the application of His word to our lives is what changes us! Knowing God’s Word is not what pleases Him, but He is pleased, honored, and blessed when we put our faith and trust in His Word and allow it to transform us to the likeness of Jesus! Knowledge, faith, and application of His word will always bring blessings and transformation. The more we are truly transformed to be like Christ, the more fulfilling our life will be and the more we will live in peace.

– Do you live God’s Word, or do you just know what it says?
– Do you feel blessed because of your obedience of God’s word, or do you often feel defeated?

2 Samuel 22:31 “This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.”

Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

Proverbs 4:20-22 “My son, be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Let them not escape from your sight; keep them within your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and healing to all their flesh.

Proverbs 3:1 “My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments,”

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

Philippians 4:7 “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

John 1:6-7, 41, 45

John 1:6-7 “There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him.” John 1:41 “The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, “We have found the Messiah” that is, the Christ.” John 1:45 “Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”” The most important news you can ever share is the news of salvation through Jesus! Who have you told about Jesus? Who will you tell?

Galatians 6:14

“May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.” The cross is all we have, and the cross is all we need.

Galatians 6:9-10

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.” Who does “everyone” include? Does it not include people who have done you wrong, people who do not believe what you believe, people who ignore you, people of different race, religion, or social status, etc.? Regardless of the outcome, and regardless of the response, we must stand firm in faith while striving to be Christlike to everyone. Often it never crosses our mind because we are focused on ourselves. An outward focus will bring peace, while an inward focus will always bring worry. When is the last time you did something good to someone? Do you look for opportunities to do so? When is the last time you made up your mind that you were going bless someone? Will you choose to focus outwardly on others, or only on your personal needs and desires? Will you look for the opportunity today to do good to “everyone”, or will you make an excuse as to how

Galatians 6:7-8

“Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.” We are not responsible for other’s actions, however, without exception, we are all responsible for our own actions. Check the topics of your conversation, your words, your attitudes, your relationships, your thoughts, and your actions! Those who walk through life avoiding the “God” discussions, have decided they don’t have the time, or desire, to go to church, never pick up the Bible for guidance, and never look past self-satisfaction or personal comfort, there will be a great awakening one day. We will all give an account to God for how we lived our lives! We will not “get by” with anything, but our sins will either be answered for by Christ, or we will pay the price ourselves eternally. Justification will only come through Jesus Christ.  What is on your agenda today, and at the end of the day, what is your goal? Does your “daily grind” ever focus on God, or is

Galatians 5:22-25

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” A Christian possesses the Holy Spirit, and the fruit of the Spirit is evidence of the Holy Spirit in you. In Christ, we should possess each and every thing listed as the fruit of the Spirit. Jesus said that we will be recognized by our fruit. Before we think about how others recognize us, we should recognize for ourselves what fruit we are exhibiting! A lack of any fruit, represents a lack of submission to God, yet God’s desire is that we live our lives with this fruit overflowing from our heart. An imitation will always be discovered, but if we submit our whole heart to God, regardless of our situations, we will be known by our fruit. We should never be satisfied with partially developed fruit, but we should strive to be a light in this dark world, and share the reason for the hope that

Galatians 5:16

“But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” The more we fill ourselves with God and his righteousness, the less room there is for our fleshly desires and sinfulness! Our victory and peace are not obtained by efforts to keep sin out of our lives, rather it is assured if we invite and welcome the Holy Spirit in! May we submit all we are to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Our walk today determines our response to temptation tomorrow!
