James 1:22-25

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.”

• Our defeated feelings always come when we either lack knowledge, belief, or application of God’s word! Knowing God’s word is one thing, but the application of His word to our lives is what changes us! Knowing God’s Word is not what pleases Him, but He is pleased, honored, and blessed when we put our faith and trust in His Word and allow it to transform us to the likeness of Jesus! Knowledge, faith, and application of His word will always bring blessings and transformation. The more we are truly transformed to be like Christ, the more fulfilling our life will be and the more we will live in peace.

– Do you live God’s Word, or do you just know what it says?
– Do you feel blessed because of your obedience of God’s word, or do you often feel defeated?

2 Samuel 22:31 “This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.”

Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

Proverbs 4:20-22 “My son, be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Let them not escape from your sight; keep them within your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and healing to all their flesh.

Proverbs 3:1 “My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments,”

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

Philippians 4:7 “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Mark 6:38-42

“And he said to them, “How many loaves do you have? Go and see.” And when they had found out, they said, “Five, and two fish.” Then he commanded them all to sit down in groups on the green grass. So they sat down in groups, by hundreds and by fifties. And taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and said a blessing and broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples to set before the people. And he divided the two fish among them all. And they all ate and were satisfied.” Jesus will use whatever we have if we are willing to commit it to Him. Are you willing to let Jesus use you for His glory and to further His Kingdom?

Mark 6:36-37

“Send them away to go into the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.” But he answered them, “You give them something to eat.” And they said to him, “Shall we go and buy two hundred denariiworth of bread and give it to them to eat?” The disciples wanted Jesus to send the people away so they could get something to eat, but Jesus wanted them to feed the people with whatever they had. Jesus used what was available and turned it into what seemed impossible. Often people are more open to what you have to say about what Christ has done in your life, than they are to an invitation to church. Share with them what Christ has done in you and what He can do for them and leave the results up to God. Be a part of Kingdom ministry today.

Mark 5:33-34

“Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.” We must lay everything at the feet of Jesus to have peace and joy.

Mark 5:18-20

“As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed with demons begged him that he might be with him. And he did not permit him but said to him, “Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and everyone marveled. While your family and friends are often the most difficult to witness to, they are also the ones who know you best. Changes in your life are noticed and will affect those who know you best, but they may not understand the transformation that Jesus has made in your life. Make sure that those you know understand what Jesus has done in your life. Who close to you, who do you see every day that you have not shared the Jesus that you claim with? Who have you told what Jesus has done for you? Who have you told about the mercy He has given you? Who have you told about the mercy He offers to them? Have your friends and family noticed a change

Mark 4:35-41

“On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him. And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith? And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”” Notice the tie of fear to lack of faith. If you have accepted Christ as your Savior there is never a reason to fear. Fear is always a result of a lack of faith. Death, illness, money, other people, the future, the past, and uncertainty, are all things that people

Mark 4:18-19

“And others are the ones sown among thorns. They are those who hear the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.” There are thorns all around us. Determine now to be fruitful today for God’s glory. May He be the object of our devotion and our continual focus. Are you letting other things in your life choke out the word of God which you have been taught? Is your soil deeper and richer than what is sustaining the thorns?
