“Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.”
- When a forest fire happens, it takes years for the results of that fire to be forgotten. The charred land and lack of life are widespread and visible for a long time even though it was just one spark that started the fire. Our words, whether intentional or accidental (a slip of the tongue) are the same way! Damage from a fire is avoided when there is no ignition source for that fire!
James 1:19 “Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger”
