John 4:39-42

“Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.” So, when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days. And because of his words many more became believers. They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.””

  • At first the Samaritans believed because of what they had heard, but later they believed because of what they had experienced. The people of the city did not just hear about Jesus from the woman, and claim Him; they went to Him, heard for themselves what He had to say, and made a personal decision to believe in Him, and follow Him. Jesus wants your belief to be based on a personal relationship with Him. You can believe because of what someone has told you, but the experience of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is what changes your life. Your salvation can never be based off someone else’s testimony. Your claim of Christianity is real, your life is changed, and your salvation is secured, when your decision is personal.  It is your choice, your decision, and your future. Jesus desires for you to know Him, not to just know of Him. There is a huge difference in having knowledge, and having a relationship.
  • Have you just heard the story, or are you experiencing the relationship?
  • Have you heard about Jesus, or do you know Him?
  • Are you claiming Christianity because of what you have heard, or because of what you have experienced?
  • Have you made a personal decision to give your life to Jesus?

John 18:36

“Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”” For what purpose do you fight and struggle for each day? Is the Kingdom of God in your focus?

John 18:10, 25

John 18:10 “Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear.” John 18:25 “Meanwhile, Simon Peter was still standing there warming himself. So they asked him, “You aren’t one of his disciples too, are you?” He denied it, saying, “I am not.”” On this night, the crowd Peter was with dictated his stand for Christ. Many of us have also been guilty of this very thing. Jesus promised to never to leave us or forsake us, and we should never deny Him, or refuse to stand for Him. If you lose everything else on earth, is Jesus enough for you?  Dear Lord, may we boldly stand for Christ, regardless of other’s beliefs, and regardless of if they accept us or not, because He is all we need. Amen

John 17:5

“And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.” Our future glory is only possible because Jesus chose to leave His ultimate glory, for a time, so that it could be. We must understand the depth of the gift of Christ.

John 16:33

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” The question is not, if we will have tribulation, we will. The question is, when we have tribulation, will we fully trust Jesus and believe the words that He spoke. “These things” that Jesus is talking about, are revealed to us when we study God’s Word. When we give our lives to Christ, and let Him have control each day, we will live in peace through the tribulations. This life is not the end for those who have committed their lives to Christ.

John 14:27

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” Jesus’ command to us is to not be troubled, and to not be afraid. He left us with a promise of peace. Does your faith in Him allow you to live in the peace that He promised?
