Mark 9:21-24

“And Jesus asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood. And it has often cast him into fire and into water, to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” And Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried outand said, “I believe; help my unbelief!”

  • Many of us state that we believe like this boy’s father stated, but we do not seek more belief like the father did. Claiming Christianity through true belief in Jesus Christ is essential to our salvation. If you are saved you have been saved by faith. We believe that Jesus took our payment for sin and that we will abide with Him throughout eternity with our Father God in Heaven. The problem most of us have is that we limit God’s sovereignty and power by relying on our own power and ability. No matter how long we have struggled with a problem, God can relieve us of it. We should never doubt the power of Christ in us, but we should admit to God where we are lacking in faith, pray that He will increase our faith in Him in those areas, and determine in our mind to fully trust God to handle all situations. He is “The Great ‘I Am’”! May we continually seek to increase our faith through prayer, being in God’s Word, and walking boldly with other Christians, which is essential to a life of peace and assurance, no matter what circumstance we are in.
  • Will you pray to God today for a faith that allows a peace that passes all understanding?

Dear Lord, we admit that there are areas in our life where our faith is weak. Please increase our faith and give us a heart and yearning to seek You through your Word and through prayer so that our faith in You will never waiver. Amen

Isaiah 5:11-12

“Woe to those who rise early in the morning, that they may run after strong drink, who tarry late into the evening as wine inflames them. They have lyre and harp, tambourine and flute and wine at their feasts, but they do not regard the deeds of the Lord, or see the work of his hands.”

Isaiah 1:18-20

“Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool. If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be eaten by the sword; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.” 1 John 1:6-7 “If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.” 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Isaiah 1:5-6

“Why will you still be struck down? Why will you continue to rebel? The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. From the sole of the foot even to the head, there is no soundness in it, but bruises and sores and raw wounds; they are not pressed out or bound up or softened with oil.” James 4:10 “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.”
