Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

  • We will always have burdens, task, and hardships, on this earth, and we can struggle, be worn down and defeated, and hopeless, or we can walk with Jesus, and let Him take our burdens, and live in the victory He promises. Whatever your burden, sadness, or worry, turn it over to God. “Rest in you souls” can be defined as peace. Jesus promises that if we let Him, He will carry the load. When we let Christ lead, He leads. No load is too heavy to bear, and best of all, we are following our Lord, who brings a peace that only a Christian can understand. We will never be alone, and never have to figure things out on our own. Jesus died for you to cover your sins and save you from death. He promises that if you live for Him, He will keep whatever is burdening you from robbing your joy. When your joy is found in Christ, nothing can take it away. There is no greater feeling than to find rest through Jesus for your soul.
  • God has a purpose for everything we go through, however, He never requires us to go through it alone. Notice that Jesus does not promise to remove your burdens, but He promises to bear the brunt of the load. It is a freedom to let Jesus lead in every area of your life. The yoke does not bring great burdens when you are yoked with Jesus, but ironically, it brings freedom. When we are truly yoked with Jesus, we stay focused, on track, and at peace, with a peace that passes all understanding. Praise God for loving us and sending His Son.
  • Aren’t you tired of the same struggle day after day?
  • Do you ever feel weary and burdened in this life?
  • Who better to be yoked together with than the One who gave His life for you, because He loved you?
  • How long will you carry the weight of the world on your shoulders, instead of the love of Jesus in your heart?
  • Will you give Him your life today?

Genesis 26:27-28

“Isaac asked them, “Why have you come to me, since you were hostile to me and sent me away?” They answered, “We saw clearly that the Lord was with you; so we said, ‘There ought to be a sworn agreement between us’—between us and you. Let us make a treaty with you” Your relationship with God should be so strong that it cannot be hidden. What do people clearly see about your relationship with God?

Genesis 26:2-5

“And the Lord appeared to him and said, “Do not go down to Egypt; dwell in the land of which I shall tell you. Sojourn in this land, and I will be with you and will bless you, for to you and to your offspring I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath that I swore to Abraham your father. I will multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and will give to your offspring all these lands. And in your offspring all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because Abraham obeyed my voice and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.”” Will your kids be blessed because of the relationship you have with God?

Genesis 25:29-33

“Once when Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau came in from the open country, famished. He said to Jacob, “Quick, let me have some of that red stew. I’m famished.” That is why he was also called Edom. Jacob replied, “First sell me your birthright.” “Look, I am about to die,” Esau said. “What good is the birthright to me?” But Jacob said, “Swear to me first.” So he swore an oath to him, selling his birthright to Jacob.” Temporary positives often bring long term negatives. Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Genesis 25:21

“And Isaac prayed to the Lord for his wife, because she was barren. And the Lord granted his prayer, and Rebekah his wife conceived.” Dear Lord, please forgive us when we neglect to pray for our spouses. From deep in our hearts, may we intercede, lifting our spouses up before You, so that You may be glorified by our families. Amen

Genesis 22:11-12

“But the angel of the Lord called out to him from heaven, “Abraham. Abraham. ”Here I am,” he replied. “Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.”” The Creator, and God of the Universe, the One who loved you and sent his Son to die for your sins, wants nothing in your life to take priority over Him. Your children, spouse, job, or anything else, should never be a higher priority than God himself in your life. What you have, God has provided, and what you refuse to offer back, has become your idol. Who or what is your priority? Do you need to adjust your priorities? How do you show God that you fear Him and follow Him? What has God asked you to give, or to give up, that you have yet to submit to Him? Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Genesis 22:7-8

“Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, “Father?”, “Yes, my son?” Abraham replied. “The fire and wood are here,” Isaac said, “but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?” Abraham answered, “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” And the two of them went on together.” God himself did provide the lamb, not just for Abraham and Isaac, but for the whole world. Without the Lamb, there is no hope for any of us. Jesus was, and is, that Lamb. This is what Christmas is about. Jesus Christ cannot be bought and given to someone, but He is available to everyone. This Christmas, share the only Gift that will last forever. He conquered death in his resurrection, and offers that victory to all who believe in Him. Share the Gift that can never be taken, or destroyed, this year with someone you really love and care about. The greatest Gift ever, is available to all.
