“When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, but finds none. Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when it comes, it finds the house empty, swept, and put in order. Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there, and the last state of that person is worse than the first. So also will it be with this evil generation.”
- When Jesus cleanses us on the inside at salvation, He removes the junk, we have filled our lives with. If we fill the void with God’s Word, and replace the unrighteous activities with righteous ones, we begin to grow in Christ. If, however, we do not replace the old junk with Godliness, the old junk will return in full force. The same thing is true when Christians ask forgiveness, and repent of their sins. God will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness, but we must be intentional about filling our lives with Him, to avoid returning to the sinful state that we repented of. We will be filled with something. It is better to be proactive, and fill our hearts and minds with Godly things, than to allow Satan to fill them for us. The more we are filled with Christ, the less we can be filled with worldly desires, thoughts, and actions.
- There is only so much room inside of you. What will you fill it with?
