“The young man said to him, “All these I have kept. What do I still lack?” Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” When the young man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.”
- Money and possessions may not be your downfall. Your downfall may be your hobbies, your reputation, your job, your status, your time, your entertainment, or even your family. None of these things are bad unless they are put in front of God, because whatever you place a higher priority on than Jesus Christ is your stumbling block, and should be removed, or adjusted. A person’s heart can usually be revealed by looking at their checkbook, and by what they are doing when the church doors are open. Jesus will always require from you what you cherish above Him.
- Will you go away sorrowful, or will you commit to Christ, and rejoice in His presence?
