“Those who had arrested Jesus took him to Caiaphas the high priest, where the teachers of the law and the elders had assembled. But Peter followed him at a distance, right up to the courtyard of the high priest. He entered and sat down with the guards to see the outcome.”
- When Peter followed Jesus at a distance, it led him to the wrong crowd, decreased his boldness for Christ, watered down his witness, and led ultimately to him denying that he was ever with Jesus. Following Jesus at a distance always leads to denial, in one way or another. When people see us, they should always see Jesus in the same picture. Our commitment to follow Jesus will fail if we are following Him from a distance, and our words and actions will often prove that He is not in the picture.
