Proverbs 24:17

“Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, and let not your heart be glad when he stumbles,”

  • Our hearts are not aligned with God when we would rather see the destruction of our enemies than to see their salvation.

Matthew 5:10

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Persecution, in one form or another, will find everyone who is truly following Christ. Matthew 5:8

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” A pure heart is not trying to be a good person, it is having a heart like Christ, that leads your actions. It is achieved only through a growing relationship with Christ, which must be our number one passion above everything else.

Matthew 4:21-22

“Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.” When Jesus calls you to follow Him, your obedience to follow Him should be immediately. His love never fails, and His path is always right.

And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Immediately they left their nets and followed him.” The correct response to Jesus is, “Yes Lord”, and the correct time to respond is immediately. God will never tell you to get your life right and then come to me, but He does say to come to Him, and He will make your life right. A calling from God has one correct response, immediate obedience. Dear Lord, may we walk with You daily, remaining in the center of Your will, so that we recognize where You are leading us. May our only answer be, “Yes Lord”, and may we never delay in being obedient. Amen
