“Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips! Do not let my heart incline to any evil, to busy myself with wicked deeds in company with men who work iniquity, and let me not eat of their delicacies!”
- Our tongues can ruin our witness quicker than anything else and the destruction it brings is often irreversible.
Matthew 5:16 “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
James 1:19-20 “Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.”
James 3:9-10 “With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.”
Dear Lord, may nothing I say be unpleasing to You. May I not argue, complain, gossip, talk bad about anyone, say bad words, or partake in any loose talk that could lead to evil thoughts or desires. Not only do I pray that I refrain from bad words, but I pray that everything that comes out of my mouth will glorify You. May my words and actions align with your will and not with those who do not know You. Amen
