“I bless the Lord who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol (the grave), or let your holy one see corruption. You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
- If we are not experiencing a fullness of joy, we are more than likely not dwelling in God’s presence. Our focus determines our attitude. Even as a child of God, when we let the troubles of this world overtake our mind, we will feel defeated. In God we find peace, joy, and a future glory, because no matter the trial, situation, or the circumstance, the Lord brings peace during the storm.
- If you attain the number one priority that you have established for yourself in this life, where will it lead you and how long will it last?
- When you are walking with the One who created you and sustains you, why would you worry or be afraid?
- Why would you seek peace and joy anywhere else besides from the Creator?
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 “So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”
James 1:2-4 “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
Isaiah 7:9 “…. You will stand on your faith or you will not stand at all.”
Dear Lord, please help us to understand and live out James 1:2-4 so that we will not be shaken. We praise you for instructing, correcting, guiding, sustaining, and saving us from death, and we thank You for loving us and being our strength when we are weak. May our focus be on You; Your love; Your directions, and Your promises. Amen
