Zephaniah 1:12

“At that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and I will punish the men who are complacent, those who say in their hearts, ‘The Lord will not do good, nor will he do ill.’

  • Complacency can be described as: being satisfied with how things are and making no effort to change them. This is a huge problem when it comes to an unbeliever or Christian who is not living a Christian life. Acknowledgement of who God is and who you are is a requirement for your salvation. Complacency will reap eternal separation from God for the non-believer and a walk outside of the fellowship of God for the believer.
  • Are you complacent about your Christian walk or do you understand that the sanctification process is continual?

2 Timothy 3:1-5 “But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.”

Matthew 4:1

“Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.” The Holy Spirit may lead us to a place where we will be tempted, but He will not leave us there alone. Overcoming temptation strengthens us. Romans 8:28 “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

Matthew 3:10

“The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.” A Christian, by claim only, is not a Christian. We must live a Jesus proclaiming life. What fruit are you producing in your Christian walk? What in your daily walk sets you apart from those who do not know Christ as their Savior? Do others want what you have because of the joy they see in your life?

Matthew 1:23

“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us) All other gifts are not relevant compared to the true Gift of Christmas. Jesus is the only gift we need, and the only essential gift. He is available to all who will receive Him, but no one will benefit from a gift they refuse.

Proverbs 31:30

“Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” There is nothing more beautiful than a Christlike woman. As a matter of fact, the beauty of everyone is directly proportional to their walk with Christ.

Proverbs 30:8-9

“Remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me, lest I be full and deny you and say, “Who is the Lord?” or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God.” Salvation is found in Jesus and Jesus alone! Are you willing to not be poor or rich as long as you are in fellowship with God? Is Jesus alone enough for you to be content? Matthew 6:31-33 “Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” 2 Corinthians 3:4-5 “Such is the confidence that we have through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God” Dear Lord – may I honor You with my life and may I be content in You and the path you have

Proverbs 30:5

“Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.” Amazingly enough, we wonder why God will not let us see what He’s doing in the situations we find ourselves in, yet we are unwilling to open His written word. Invest your time, focus, mind, conversation, effort, and especially your heart in God’s word. No return on investment will ever compare. How much of His truth have you hidden in your heart to guide your life? Where else would you go and where else would you take refuge, other than God’s Word? Psalm 119:9-11 “How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” Ephesians 6:17 “Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Psalm 119:11 “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” John 17:17
