“When the king heard the words of the Book of the Law, he tore his robes.” —“Because your heart was responsive and you humbled yourself before the Lord when you heard what I have spoken against this place and its people—that they would become a curse and be laid waste—and because you tore your robes and wept in my presence, I also have heard you, declares the Lord. Therefore I will gather you to your ancestors, and you will be buried in peace. Your eyes will not see all the disaster I am going to bring on this place.”
- When Josiah learned what God desired from His children, he immediately humbled himself, and was greatly sorrowed and ashamed of not following God’s will. He was not raised by his father to be a godly man, but he knew in his heart something was missing. He avoided eternal disaster because he sought God and turned to Him. His discovery came through the words God had given His people. If you want to know God, seek Him in the Word He has given us. If the Bible is not part of your daily life, your desire to hear from Him daily is non-existent. God promises that if we seek Him, we will find Him.
