Genesis 50:19-20

“But Joseph said to them, “Do not fear, for am I in the place of God? As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.”

  • Godliness is revealed in us when the way others treat us does not affect our love for them.
  • Are you able to forgive, as Joseph did, realizing that God’s plan is always perfect?
  • Can you accept whatever others do to you without holding a grudge, understanding that God is in control, and desires that you be Christlike in all situations?
  • Are you willing to leave the judgement to God, where it rightly belongs?
  • Are you willing to forgive others, and trust God with the outcome?

Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Exodus 20:12 – The 5th Commandment

“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.” Honor is due our parents, regardless of any ill-feelings, and regardless of other priorities, we may have. If the Lord commands it, we can make time to be obedient. We never outgrow this commandment. Have you visited your parents lately? Have you told them that you love them?

Besides addressing the Lord, praising the Lord, discussing the Lord, or sharing the Lord, how are you using His name?

Exodus 20:3 – The 1st Commandment

“You shall have no other gods before me.” Anything or anyone you honor, respect, and cherish, above God, has become your god. Your God, or god, can be determined by your conversations, your time, and your finances. Your conversation will always reveal your heart.  Have you made something, or someone, more important in your life than God? What do you talk about the most?

Exodus 16:8

“And Moses said, “When the Lord gives you in the evening meat to eat and in the morning bread to the full, because the Lord has heard your grumbling that you grumble against him—what are we? Your grumbling is not against us but against the Lord.”” How are you trusting in God and His Word, and how are you representing Him, if you are grumbling about your situation, circumstance, or other people? Philippians 2:14-15 “Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,”
