James 1:12-15 “Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.”
• The term “steadfast” does not refer to our claim of Christianity, it refers to our Christian walk. Our sin is not a result of God’s lack of desire to deliver us, it is a result of our lack of desire to let Him! Make no mistake, the sin that is in us is not someone else’s fault! Because we are born with a sin nature we are often enticed by our own evil desires, and it is never someone else’s fault that we sin! If we allow sin to remain in us….by our own choice…. we will die eternally! We must confess and turn from our sins, humbly seek forgiveness, allow the blood of Jesus to cleanse us, and seek His leadership in our lives. The temptation does not come from God…….THE “RESCUE” DOES!!
Dear Lord – May we admit and accept responsibility for our sin! We plead with you Lord to change our hearts and desires to align with Yours! Please give us the discernment to understand and the power to overcome when a trial becomes a temptation. Lord, may we immediately repent when we let our desires overtake your love, purpose, and control in our lives. Amen.
