James 3:16-18

“For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.”

  • Maybe one reason our harvest is not righteousness is that we have not allowed God to fill us with His wisdom! In our own wisdom we are defeated; in His wisdom we are filled with peace and joy. We often find answers in the Bible that we do not want to hear. When we cannot seem to live right and our life is full of disorder, we must look deep inside before we look for outside reasons. A focus on God with no priority above Him will eliminate internal evil and disorder. We must never be satisfied with our self-proclaimed wisdom but always seek “true wisdom” from above! Seeking, receiving, and practicing wisdom from above will bring a peace that passes all understanding!
  • Would your average day be better described by the word “peace” or “disorder”?
  • Are you seeking God’s wisdom from His word?
  • When you look at the characteristics of Godly wisdom, how much wisdom do you possess?

Philippians 4:6-7 “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Hebrews 13:5 “Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.””

Philippians 4:4 “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.”

Matthew 4:7

“Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’”” We have no right to put God to a test. When we understand who God is, and who we are, the only correct response is humility.

Matthew 4:3-4

“And the tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.” But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”” If you say you are seeking God daily, but you are not consistently in His Word, then I challenge that God is not your priority. God’s Word will change your life by guiding every step you take. Get to know His Word and let it guide your every step. The application of His Word to your life will bring peace and joy that you cannot find anywhere else. If you are just feeding your body with food, you are just existing, but if you are feeding your soul with God’s Word, you are living. Make a vow today to truly “live” the rest of your life. We try not to miss many meals, but how often do we skip getting into the Word? Maybe that is why we often feel spiritually malnourished. How much time do you spend meditating on God’s Word, versus thinking about your next meal? Do you need to adjust

Matthew 4:1

“Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.” The Holy Spirit may lead us to a place where we will be tempted, but He will not leave us there alone. Overcoming temptation strengthens us. Romans 8:28 “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

Matthew 3:10

“The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.” A Christian, by claim only, is not a Christian. We must live a Jesus proclaiming life. What fruit are you producing in your Christian walk? What in your daily walk sets you apart from those who do not know Christ as their Savior? Do others want what you have because of the joy they see in your life?

Matthew 1:23

“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us) All other gifts are not relevant compared to the true Gift of Christmas. Jesus is the only gift we need, and the only essential gift. He is available to all who will receive Him, but no one will benefit from a gift they refuse.

Proverbs 31:30

“Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” There is nothing more beautiful than a Christlike woman. As a matter of fact, the beauty of everyone is directly proportional to their walk with Christ.
