Proverbs 10:12

“Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses.”

  • Notice that there is no reference to hatred covering offenses or love causing strife. Reconciliation between you and others, and you and God, will happen when love is your focus. Retaining hatred will guarantee you stress, anger, unrest, and loneliness. Hate is a choice you make, but love is a gift from God. You can choose love from God or choose to hate, but you cannot have both.
  • Will you choose love, or will you choose hatred?
  • Will you choose to forgive, or will you choose to bear grudges?

Luke 6:27-28 “But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.”

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

Matthew 6:14-15 “For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”

Isaiah 5:11-12

“Woe to those who rise early in the morning, that they may run after strong drink, who tarry late into the evening as wine inflames them. They have lyre and harp, tambourine and flute and wine at their feasts, but they do not regard the deeds of the Lord, or see the work of his hands.”
